Located southwest of Anchorage on the shores of lake Iliamna, the lodge is 180 miles from the nearest road. You will be fishing the Iliamna /Bristol Bay drainages which is the premier Rainbow fishing area of Alaska. Rainbow Bay Resort is a family built, owned and operated lodge that is in it's 21st year of operation. We offer a very specialized fishing trip to a maximum of 10 guests per week. You choose your fishing destinations daily.

This area is, beyond a doubt, the premier Rainbow fishing region of Alaska. Rainbows ranging up to 12 pounds are common. Bristol Bay is also the spawning grounds of all 5 species of Pacific Salmon as well as Arctic Char, Arctic Grayling and Northern Pike. Rainbow Bay Resort is located only 15 miles from the Halibut rich waters of Lower Cook Inlet of the North Pacific where we offer our fisherman the opportunity to fish salt water for this great eating fish. The majority of our fishing is stream fishing and is accomplished by wading. A typical week of fishing at RBR will offer a variety of fishing. You will have the discretion to choose the majority of your daily fishing destinations that are available during your stay. Whether you are an accomplished fly fisherman or a beginner spin fisherman, we have the right trip for you.
The Bristol Bay drainage of Southwest Alaska offers a fantastic variety of sportfishing. During the season Rainbow Bay Lodge will fish for the following 10 species: Rainbow, Arctic Char, Arctic Grayling and Northern Pike. All five species of Salmon i.e. King, Sockeye, Pink, Chum and Silver. We also offer a Halibut trip near the Lodge.

Each bedroom is spaciously furnished with two queen size beds and a private bath for your comfort and convenience. The Lodge is constructed with logs and the interior is covered with cedar. The Lodge is surrounded by Lake Clark National Park to the north and Katami National Park to the south. This region is world renowned for its thriving numbers of wild Rainbow Trout, Arctic Grayling, Arctic Char, Northern Pike and the 5 species of Pacific Salmon.
Travel Planning to Rainbow Bay Resort
The first part of your travel planning will be from your hometown to Anchorage, Alaska. Several airlines provide air travel to Anchorage. The following is a partial list of the major carriers: American, Delta, Continental, United, Northwest, Alaska and America West. There are also numerous international airlines servicing Anchorage.
Due to most of the airline arrivals times into Anchorage, you will require an overnight stay in Anchorage in order to meet your Saturday morning charter flight to the Lodge. Hotels book up quickly during the summer and we recommend that you make your reservations as soon as possible. The following is a list of Anchorage hotels that we recommend.

The last leg of your trip is a one hour charter flight from Anchorage to the Lodge on Saturday morning. This is a beautiful, scenic flight and I recommend that you keep your camera out and ready. Lake Clark Air provides this service. This reservation will be made for you by Rainbow Bay Resort. You should arrive at the Lodge by mid morning and be fishing shortly after lunch. A complete list of clothing and equipment will be provided when your booking is confirmed. Rainbow Bay Lodge will be happy to provide all the fishing equipment that you will need at no additional charge.
